[EXECUTIVES APPLICATION OPEN]
Human trafficking, the purchasing, selling and trading of humans, is considered modern-day slavery and is a felony in many countries. In Canada, human traffickers can be sentenced all the way up to life-long sentences.
Yet, around the world, US$250 billion are estimated to be earned out of the labour, sex, and organ trafficking market.
As of 2020, Statistics Canada reported 2,977 incidents of human trafficking in Canada between 2010-2020. Out of which, 96% were women and girls, 25% were under the age of 18, and 45% between 18 and 24 years old.
